Every February, thousands of people in the oil and gas industry gather at the NAPE Summit in Houston. It’s an assembly of some of the best minds in the business. Industry professionals come from all over the country (and the world) to discuss fresh technology and strike new deals. NAPE Summit isn't just a networking event; it's a gateway to the industry’s future. In fact, it's the largest event of its kind in the world. This year, the NAPE Summit spans three days and 14.66 acres of exhibition space.
Do Good at the Charities Luncheon
The Charities Luncheon has been a NAPE tradition since 2007. Each year, attendees are treated to a free luncheon featuring important guest speakers to raise awareness about a select charity. Because the costs of this event are covered, 100% of proceeds are donated to charity. NAPE focuses on a different group of charities each year, and luncheon events address the organization's work. Guest speakers and other participants make it a point to highlight the charities and award them with donations during the luncheon. This year, they are:
- Canine Companions for Independence
- Operation Finally Home
- Rebuilding America's Warriors (RAW)
The Luncheon guest speaker this year is Rudy Giuliani, former mayor of New York City. He was praised for reducing crime by 56% during his term. New York City used to be considered one of the most dangerous cities in the United States; now, other law enforcement agencies are modeling their strategies after the NYPD. NAPE Summit attendees are anxiously looking forward to his luncheon appearance.
Learn About Critical Topics at the Business Conference
The Business Conference is another yearly tradition held before the exhibits open. Starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, guests are treated to a host of speakers discussing various topics within the industry. This year, guest speakers include executives from some of the largest companies in the field. Speakers will discuss topics like legal challenges, E&P trends, and technology. Some of the issues include:
- Energy policy and the political environment in 2016
- How the international oil and gas industry is similar and different from the US industry
- The future of horizontal oil in the US
- US onshore exploration in 2016
The Business Conference is a fantastic way to kick off the Summit and open discussion for critical matters in the oil and gas industry. Seats for the conference fill up quick, so arrive for NAPE a few days before the event.
Mingle With Influential People at the Decision Maker's Breakfast
The Decision Maker's Breakfast is held Thursday morning just before exhibits officially open. The breakfast has quickly become one of the most popular NAPE events. During the meal, attendees look forward to delicious food and remarkable networking opportunities. Some of the biggest players in the field gather to discuss issues and advancements in the oil and gas world. Be warned: the breakfast is always well-attended, so visit the NAPE Summit website and reserve a seat before they're gone.
Explore Hundreds of Domestic and Global Exhibits
Of course, exhibits are the biggest and best thing about the NAPE Summit. What would the occasion be without hundreds of showcases to visit each year? The 2016 Summit is the largest one yet, with an estimated 1,000 exhibitors attending. Displays allow you to explore some of the newest technologies, products, and services in the upstream oil and gas industry. Best of all, you get to network with top names and amazing minds in a fun and casual environment.
Hundreds of International prospects and exhibitors set up alongside some of the most influential companies in the United States. NAPE features two theaters: one for domestic prospects and another for international prospects. Organizations will have a full day to host presentations and interact with attendees. Participants can explore critical issues and opportunities in the oil and gas industry—not just in the US, but on a global scale. With more than 17,000 attendees this year, there's plenty of opportunity to forge new deals, partnerships, and a pathway into the future.
With all the events going on at NAPE Summit this year, it's hard for us to decide what we're looking forward to most. Which exhibits and speeches will you be attending?
